Well Thursday a storm blew thru Tennessee and North Alabama. My mom lives in Grant Alabama on the Tennessee River/ Lake Guntersville .

She called me yesterday and said a Tornado jumped there house, then proceeded to whipe out everything in its path below her home on the bottom of Baker Mountain. She said it looks like a bunch of toothpics... the only damage they got (so far) was a huge floating globe fountain they have in the front yard was blown off the mount/pedestal and was destroyed...they had to get it installed with a small crane. And they are without power ...but they have a generator... She knows of one family in there car was crushed by a fallen tree when they were driving up the mountain....no word on their condition...she doesnt think they made it...also a man was sitting in his truck near the boat launch and a tree crushed the truck killing him.

Heres some pics from the damage on the lake shore.....

So keep the folks of Tennessee and North Alabama in your prayers.... And the blessing that the thing missed my Moms house, and the 3 homes near her. (they are pretty spread out..)

That really was a wild night last night and we took a lot of hits in Georgia too. The storms were all around me but all I got was a little wind and about an inch of rain at my house. The local TV channels were covering the weather for many hours, forgoing all the news and primetime TV shows, and our weather man said this was the first time in our area that he had seen the US Weather Service put out a severe warning for tornados in the metro Atlanta area. I'm glad to hear your mom's house was skipped.

I've never been to Guntersville before but I used to always take the scenic route from Atlanta to Huntsville, AL, when I used to make sales calls in the Huntsville area. I used to go up through Rome, GA, cut over through Fort Payne. AL, and cross the Tennessee River at Scottsboro, Scottsbro. <img src='http://www.titanspot.com/Titan/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/003.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':smt006' /> Riding down the steep road that overlooks the Tennessee Valley and River just before the river crossing into Scottsboro was a beautiful sight. That part of Alabama is very picturesque.

Springtime storms are just a fact of life and they miss us most of the time but sometimes you get hit and those affected from last nights storm are in my thoughts.

I have never seen a tornado before. In the fall they sometimes put tornado warnings on the TV but I never seen anything come of it. Back in virginia once every few years a hurricane comes through but we have never been affected. I cannot imagine the damage that could come from one of these things. God Bless those that are down there. Glad to hear that your loved ones are okay.

Yeah we've had a pretty rough 2 weeks of weather around here. Luckily I haven't been on the receiving end of damage. It all started on Good Friday at about noon. Then came through again this past Sunday afternoon, and kinda had me a little worried, but split and went north and south of us. For some reason I think Tornado Alley has moved out of Kansas and went south. Glad to hear that your folks are o.k. Scottsbro23. Next time you are up this way, let me know. Would love to meet you. About 2 hours away from Guntersville.
