Mustang Gt Couldn't Buck Me.

Went to the track last night and raced a previous gen Mustang GT and beat him easily. He ran a 15.195 @ 95.08 to my 14.894 @ 91.06. I spoke with the owner of a new Mustang GT and my earlier suspicions were confirmed. He said that his stock GT ran between 14.7 and 14.5 in this heat. I had seen a new Mustang GT run a couple weeks back and he ran a 14.5. I am really past believing anything any of the magazines have to say in regards to performance because in the REAL world I just don't see any of the vehicles putting down the same numbers. Yeah I'm sure the heat has a good bit to do with it but I also believe that your average driver can not reproduce those kinds of numbers and that to me is what counts. What can a vehicle run with John Doe in the drivers seat because that's who I end up racing. They need to put a 25 year old with decent driving abilities in the vehicle and see what the vehicle actually runs and post that with the pro time. You could average out the two and have a REAL world time because I have yet to see a pro driver in a stock vehicle at the local strip. There was a guy there last night that swears his buddy has a Hemi that runs 13.1. I asked if it was on the juice and he said no to which I replied, tell him to bring it out and I'll let him beat me, lol. He seemed like an honest enough fellow but I think he was reading the score board from the Lighting that ran next to his friend. Let's keep it real guys, I went 4-0 last night with vehicles that should all run like scalded dogs according to the hype and I beat them all with a 15 second truck.

I know what he means...when your at the track and watch reaction times or how people handle there car when it breaks loose.....most don't have a clue what they are doing.

I haven't had the opportunity to run a Mustang yet....that wasn't older with a fully blown 5.0 in it.

The funniest thing I've ever done.....

I lined up with a Corvette......whipped his arese to 1/8 mile!!!! I was watching his face when I passed him...he was in total disbelief...it was funny as hell!!! but at the 1/8 mile he flew past me pretty fast!!

I can beat alot of the performance cars...plane jane performance cars to about the 1/8 mile.....then they blow past me pretty good.

Nice kill.[/quote]Sorry for the tone of that post, I should have edited that a bit before posting here because that was kind of a reply to a previous challenge that was posted to one of my earlier war stories on another board. Sometimes when peoples' favorite vehicles get beat at the strip, they want to challenge the validity of the driver or car and discount the fact that it was what it was. when I originally said I saw a new Mustang GT run a 14.5, there were a few people that stepped up to defend the Mustang and even post a magazine article attesting to it being much quicker. One of my all time favorite cars is the old Mustang 429 so I have no ax to grind but I sure want to know the truth at my track and in turn how I stack up. There have also been a few instances of people on other boards posting that there are a bunch of awful drivers at my track and they should have their keys taken away and be flogged, lol. I think we all have our good and bad days but to say everybody I beat was an awful driver is unrealistic but it was posted that way. I would just like everyone to be realistic when posting kills and that will help us all to keep pace with the competition. Sorry for the rant as this board seems a lot better in regards to allowing True Kills to remain uncontested.

I actually see a lot of bad drivers in the fast lanes mixed with a lot of good ones. They tend to buy a ten second car because they have the money but have never driven anything like that and end up bouncing it off the wall, lol. A 13 or 14 second car can be driven by a lot of average drivers after a couple of passes because they don't get so out of control so quickly and they just have to learn to shift without spinning the tires so much.

I drive around the water box so the front tires stay dry and then back into it to get the rear tires wet. I spin them just a little in the box to get water all around them and then pull forward a couple feet. I then lay on the brake pretty heavy and spin em up to about 4500 or 5000, RPM and slide it sideways and brake before I go past the starting line. I ease it forward enough to get the top staging bulbs to light and put the brake on. I then give it enough gas to inch into the beams till the lower set of staging bulbs just come on. I brake it hard so I don't creep forward while I'm power braking it up to about two grand and focus on the center of the third yellow bulb and when she lights, I'm off the brake and giving it about half throttle so I don't spin off the line. After I am rolling a bit I ease into the throttle until she's wide open and then hold her tight to the floor until I'm in Alaska, lol.
