I am going through this right now.

I found out who the Darling Homes Architect is here in Houston. Currently I have my request to buy an 'old' plan from them as long as a few parameters are met.

They know as well that I can take the customer rep drawing and have it reversed engineered if I really wanted it bad enough.

Now the largest issue is trying to find land. We have been looking from Tomball to Katy and have yet to find anyone willing to sell a smaller amount of land = 1 acre. I don't want or need 3+ acres.

Buy the 3 acres on condition of rezoning approval and divide the 3 acres into 3, 1 acre lots. Sell the other 2 lots, you will very likely turn a good proffit on the land, especially if small parcels/lots are hard to find.

I realize that I am 7 years late for this conversation...but, I am looking for the Houston architect that designs for Darling Homes also.  I read that you found one...will you please share the name and your experience.  Thanks!
