Darling Homes

I was curious as to whether or not anyone out there owns or lives in a Darling Home. Darling is a builder, BTW. I was just wondering because my wife and I are looking at new properties and we stumbled upon this builder. Their designs are beautiful and incredibly innovative. The only issue is I know nothing of their build quality. That said, if anyone knows anything please share your thoughts.

Builders are usually licensed by the state. Check with the license office at State, county, and local levels to see if there have been consumer complaints made about this builder. Also, check with the local zoning office. Ask if there have been any code violations or non compliance issues with this builder. Next, check with the Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau for complaints. Finally, the county or city zoning office can give you a list of houses this builder has built in your area. Drive through those neighborhoods and stop and ask people in them about the builder. Do all of the above and you will have a pretty good picture of the builders character.

I guess I can put this thread on lock down. That was about as concise an answer as I could ever have imagined getting. Thanks a lot Skiff. I appreciate that. By the way, cash that friggin' check!! It won't clear out of my ledger.

I've worked with builders at all levels from Contractor to investor. It's the process I go through with all of them. I deposited the check yesterday! <img src='http://www.titanspot.com/Titan/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/003.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':smt075' />

V....I might add to check and see if Texas has any passive solar builders....the paybacks with passive solar design is amazing....and a healthy home to live in with natural light and heat.

You might see if Texas has a solar center and state tax credits.......many banks will lend more $$$ if you have energy efficient design incorported which pays you back in utility savings. Resale value is good when you also can show low energy bills.

When I installed my 100% solar and wind powered system I got state and federal tax credits which helped big time. Just a thought....as your family expands energy efficiency will pay back quicker. Good luck!

Make sure to buy a nice large plot of land in proportion to the house! Nothing like a huge, new home on a tiny little square of grass...I guess some people like to reach out and touch thy neighbor? <img src='http://www.titanspot.com/Titan/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/003.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':smt003' />

Maybe I'm just an old grouch, but I could stand to own a couple of acres myself.

Didn't read through all responses but if you are worried about build quality but like their designed the solution is simple.....take their design to another builder.

If you want to build fast, strong and efficient check this out:

http://www.dulley.com/docs/f738.htm

SIPS panels are Structural Insulated Panels........the KEY is to have a builder that knows how to work with them...you can erect your house in 3-5 days with this product..the other key is to have the $$$..Good luck!
