Hopefully the relay is a better one. Until I change mine I really can't confirm. I'm waiting for the first no-start at crank-up time or stall-out while under-way before I get back into the black box and decide to change just the relay..........or the supposedly updated circuit/board.

Did you see anything different when you did the swaps?

I had the dealership swap it out cause the part was under warranty......

At this point I would install an hour meter on it to track how long they last..it may help to find the problem in the end.

Has anyone had troubles with the SES light and codes following the replacement of the IDPM?

Standard story -- thought fuel pump had failed, traced trouble to the IDPM and replaced -- all is good, except the SES light. Code reader says catalytic, but that seems like a hell of a coincidence. Truck has about 70K on it, and runs as good as it ever did, SES light or no. No limp mode or anything like that. Really think it's unlikely that I'd suffer a catalytic failure at the exact same time as IPDM replacement.

Have cleared the codes using a code reader module, but have yet to go through the multi-step process listed elsewhere in this thread.

Suggestions? Thanks!

I could be wrong about this and would like HK or kev to confirm but IIRC the IPDM can cause cats to fail. BE SUPER CAREFUL if Im right it could make the motor go boom. I may be wrong but I dont think I am...

HK....Kev.....someone confirm?

The cats have gone south on other Titans with less Miles than yours. There is a thread of recent about the secondaries going bad and it may talk about the code issue like yours have. Look for Kats thread....on cats! Is your Titan a 4x4?

I have enough info. to make a thread about cats..they are a SCAM and the oil companies prob. had legislation passed in the 80's to get them on ALL vehicles.
Cats make your vehicle burn more fuel. A properly tuned vehicle with electronic ignition and all the electronics burns less fuel then one with cats.http://www.titanspot.com/Titan/public/style_emoticons/default/013.gif...it's been proven folks.

Honeykeeper and all the others that posted such great information....I want to say Thank You!

My 2005 Titan suffered the same failure of the IDPM relay last night. I was able to find this thread, research the fix, complete the emergency swap, and procured the new part today. I'll install the new board later tonight.

I am quite certain that TitanSpot and you experts saved me a ton of money...and I didn't even have to call Geico.

Thanks to this thread I was able to solve my problem. I have a 2005 Pathfinder in which the IPDM went out. I ordered one from Brian and it fixed the problem. However, like Bret in post 92 my Pathy s now throwing the 0420 code. I reset the ECU and the SES light will stay off for awhile and then come back on. Power and everything seems to be good but if it really is a cat I don't want to ruin my engine. I have emailed Bret to see what fixed his problem but would be grateful for thoughts.
I also have a 2004 Titan so I feel ok posting on this forum.
Thanks in advance.

Glad it helped another possible stranding thanks to NISSAN's funky design team.

I have received loads of PM's from folks that join here just to send me a thanks/note and I hear the thread ranks #1-2 on the internet search for IPDM NISSAN problems/solutions.

I'm about ready to be one of the new buyers, but am unsure if it is really the problem. Yesterday, I went down the street and parked at a neighbors house. When I left the truck barely started, running real rough at about 100-200 rpm. The dash lights were fluttering on and off.

I got home and read this thread and tried the IPDM Test. It seemed to pass the test. The horn honked, the lights flashed and the wipers wiped.

I poked around in the IPDM and didn't see much, put tapped on the relays.

I also put in some gas, since one of the postings said he was just out of gas. My tank was low, but over the line, with the light on. About 25 miles before I would "Need" to get gas according to the odo.

The truck has generally run great, but I have noticed a slight hesitation/ missing on 2 occaisons in the last week for just a second, then it went away.

So today, the truck starts up and runs fine. I didn't go far, because I don't trust it. Any Ideas? or just replace the IPDM for safety's sake? :smt017

Plugs too? I've got about 68,000 miles. Runs great, most of the time. I guess I shouldn't have put the gas in, It ruins the test.

I'll be replacing my IPDM too...had the Fog light jumper mod (never again) effed up a couple fuse slots. Both fog light and tail light slots are so loose the fuse's do not lock in. As of right now my T has no tail lights, parking lights, fog lights, and center dash lights ( HU, A/C controls etc.) Earlier today (near dusk) I noticed my parking and fogs where not working (jumper mod)...then later the evening they were working. As we were leaving later they didnot work. Thats when I noticed the slots where effed up. Probably from too much heat from jumper mod I guess. I have noticed for about 3 weeks, on occasion my HU display would flash brite (as in daytime brightness) shortly after turning on my headlights.
