  Garage door opener failure
Posted by: richinnc - 11-27-2018, 12:03 PM - Forum: Problems and Repairs - No Replies

Certainly not the end of the world but a pain in the patutee for sure.

Every now and then the garage door opener on the mirror will not work and open the garage door.  Then, mysteriously, a few days later it will start to work again.

Anyone else experienced this little quirk???

Not sure trailer brake controller working
Posted by: richinnc - 11-16-2018, 03:28 AM - Forum: Titan Towing Tips/Experiences - Replies (1)

I just picked up my new boat and trailer which has electrical brake assist.
I set the trailer brake controller to 6 and went 15mph and squeezed the controller brake.  Nothing happened.  Went all the way to 8....still didn't stop.

Also,  is the number suppose to stay visible on the controller?  After a few seconds the number goes away.

Is there a way to test if it is the controller that is malfunctioning or the trailer brakes that are malfunctioning??

The boat weighs about 4000 lbs.  Even if the controller system was not working I seemed to stop ok.  Did I waste money getting a trailer with brake assist?

HELP !!!

04 PRG shocks? Which to level front
Posted by: Surferdave - 08-19-2018, 02:22 PM - Forum: Suspension / Off Road - No Replies

Hey spotters,
04 4x4 le mostly street, dirt roads in NH, 215k miles.
I need new front struts, replace a broken front spring, and rear shocks.
I would like to level the front end a bit also by raising it.
Reading everything about shocks and lift kits and body kits and struts vs coil over shocks w/ springs and valving and steering angles etc
Not looking to break the bank either. Giving the truck to my son.
Also looking to support those who support the Titan world like Greg at PRG.
So the best most economical upgrade to me looks like PRG Billys 5100 package
But I still need to replace my springs because 1 is broken. Can I use a stock spring height and use a leveling plate or should I increase the length of the springs bit?
I would also like to get the front up a bit also so should I use a leveling plate? 1",1.5"?
I don't want to wear out other parts because of the lift.
I will also be purchasing the PRG sway bar bushing and adjustable end link package as mine are worn.
Please keep the crazy priced products to yourself. I am trying to keep 6 cars,3 motorcycles, 4 snowmobiles all running on a buffet salary. only so much can fit on a plate

  04 stereo/nav shut down
Posted by: Surferdave - 08-19-2018, 11:02 AM - Forum: Audio/Video - No Replies

Afternoon Titans. 04 LE 4x4 original owner.215k
Nav,dvd,6 cd.
Been through all of the original issues.
My RF stock stereo/nav would work then stop working then the nav screen would go dark grey but still be on while the key was out. Had to pull the fuse out
Has anyone been able to pinpoint the reason for this. Yes I know the RF unit is low quality but that's all I need.
I like to listen to my engine with my electric exhaust dump mostly.Wife would like music.
Some say the amp, but does that affect my whole nav screen along with the head unit?
Also I can no longer use the info screen for anything or the cd player. I had to pull the fuse to the system to keep it from draining my battery.
I havent read a definitive answer for this issue and the stealership is in no way an option.
I would like to somehow get the stock nav screen working.
Figure out if the amp or head unit is bad.
Which type of wiring harness to use to either keep the stock nav with a new head unit or a new amp or no amp at all?
Speakers were all working fine.
I have wrenched on this myself since 04. never did stereo work to it but maybe with titanspot and youtube I may be able to handle this. If not my other area choice is Best Buy but I for sure want to know what and how to repair it before I go in to BB.
I have read other posts but none addressed the head unit AND the nav screen issue.

Thanks for you help Titans.

  Titan engine problems
Posted by: boudreaux7721 - 11-23-2017, 08:31 AM - Forum: Problems and Repairs - No Replies

Not to make this a long story the short of it . Engine is barely running like it's spitting and sputtering is I bring it to Nissan for diagnostic. They tell me my engine is shot the cats were sucked in throw the intake and I need a new engine 5,000 to 10,000 !!!

So this is where it gets interesting

Now mine you I have a little mechanic experience so I'm like yea ok it's not looked up ,it still runs I got this

So I start googling the VK56DE my engine all I can get it the Nissan dealer ship

At this time I'm trying to get mechanics to look at it their all telling me Nissan has the codes an they will not share it .

At this point I'm getting mad so I Google ( engine close to the VK56DE )Ferrari comes and I'm like yea ok what ever F-ing Google right

So I decide to have fun with it so I'm scrolling through pics.and what do I see it's a titan engine low an behold Ferrari and Nissan have the same type of V8 engines

So I start like for info on the Ferrari v8 and they had problems with the cats they were getting sucked in, the exhaust was to small

Now it's two years later I'm pissed

So I start working on it

I took out injectors, intake manifold, spark plugs, O2 sensors, and cats

Cleaned everything and put it all back

It took one week now that's working on it after work

And now it is running great!

  Po420 trouble code
Posted by: bdumond - 02-10-2017, 12:55 PM - Forum: Problems and Repairs - Replies (4)

I have a 2006 LE crew cab AEM intake, Flowmaster. Recently threw this code. I really do not have a thousand dollars for one side of manifold/cat. Is there any alternative such as headers and an aftermarket cat? Here's the kicker I live in commiefornia. So it also has to be CARB compliant any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
